Yesterday we were supposed to have a "winter storm". We were under a winter advisory all day. Snow was expected to be anywhere from 1 to 3 inches or 3 to 5 inches--depending on which channel you watched. Sleet and freezing rain was predicted in the afternoon. It started snowing to beat the band late morning--huge, big snowflakes coming down at a fast rate. Me, being the person who can't drive in the snow at all and freaks out every time it snows, went home early from work because I was so afraid it would keep getting worse and I wouldn't be able to get home at all. I mean, 3 to 5, freezing rain, sleet...you do the math. I got home and about 10 minutes after I made it here, it quit snowing and didn't snow again the rest of the day. The freezing rain and sleet--never saw it.
Now I know meteorology is an inexact science. They look at the jet streams and whatever else they say they watch, but come on. How can you be
so wrong? This morning we were supposed to wake up to the results of the freezing rain and sleet we were getting overnight. So guess what we had this morning--you guessed it, nothing. I'm certainly not wishing for bad weather, but this is ridiculous. I'm super ticked that I lost out on 4 hours' worth of work yesterday for nothing. Not to mention, I looked like the biggest wimp in the world because I was the only one who left early. Even the woman who works with us who is over 60 stayed. Imagine how that makes me look? Next time, I am going to tough it out. Meteorologists be damned!
