Yes, folks, it's official. We are closing today at 5:30!! I can't believe this is really going to happen. I am so glad it's happening today because we've avoided paying another mortgage payment. Yay!!
I'm sure it will also be a somewhat sad day as well. I have tons of good memories in that house. It's the place where Mr and I started our relationship; buying it was the first time I proved to myself that I could do whatever I set my mind to and could really take care of myself; it was the first time I was really so proud of myself and felt really powerful and in charge of my own life; I shared really fun, good times with friends there, some of which are not in my life anymore. Selling it is the end of a time in my life that I can never go back to. Don't get me wrong, I am ready and happy to move onto this new phase of my life and leave the other phase behind, but it still makes me stop and remember what was. This house symbolizes all of that.
If you thought the downstairs picture yesterday was bad, you should see the garage from last night's moving. My whole side of the garage is full of crap. We now have 3 big areas of the house that are a complete wreck--the finished basement part (yesterday's picture), the unfinished basement part and now the garage. I hope we dig out of this crap by August. I really need to have a yard sale next weekend. There's no sense in wasting time putting stuff away if a lot of it is going to be gotten rid of, which it is. I have to work every day next week, though, so I'm not sure if I'll have time to get my act together and go through everything by next weekend. We'll see. I can't wait until life settles down into a nice, steady flow. I thought that would be 2 weeks ago, but no slowing down yet.
I have a new thing I'm going to try. I'm going to try to limit myself to only 2 hours on the computer--1 hour in the morning, 1 in the afternoon--unless I'm online looking for jobs. I am way too obsessed with the internet and it is a total time-sucker. With all that needs doing around the house, there's no reason for me to be on the computer more than that. Wish me luck. This may be harder than quitting smoking.

I've had a virus this morning
Well, not actually me, but rather my computer. Apparently I went on a website yesterday while I was looking for baby shower stuff--as a matter of fact, I think that was the name of the site babyshowerstuff.com--and right after I got off of it, I had a warning that I had spyware installed and needed an antivirus right away. Of course, I'd let my Norton's expire by only a few days and this is what happens. I think Norton's may be behind it, who knows? Anyway, I've been working on installing updated antivirus software and spyware removal since 7 this morning. Yes, I know, it's shocking. I can't believe I was up by 7 either. We'll see if this fixed it.
In other news, it looks like the closing is still a go for Friday. We had to contribute $1000 from proceeds of selling the house to put into an escrow for the buyer so he can paint the house after closing. FHA required him to get a bid to get the house painted and then put 1 1/2 times that amount in an escrow account and they wanted us to kick some in. We're supposed to get it back in 30-45 days or whenever he gets the painting done. This guy must really want this house bad! He's the buyer we've prayed for--someone who fell in love with the house like I did. We'll be partying hard on Friday if this closing goes through.
I didn't get virtually anything done yesterday, but I have gotten some thank you cards written this morning while I've been watching my computer run. If I do a few every day I will have them knocked out in no time. Of course, I have to go to the house and pack more sh*t today. UGH!!

Lazy Tuesday
It's a lazy Tuesday here in Mr and Mrs-ville. There's so much to do and I don't feel like doing any of it. This is a busy week since we are still set to close on Friday. We got some not-so-good news last Friday before we left for the lake. FHA has told our realtor that we need to paint the house before closing. We were afraid of that and our realtor is still trying to work around it so it's not terrible news, yet.
Either way, we still need to get stuff out of the house this week as if we are really closing on Friday. Moving the way I did is the absolute worst way to move. I have been moving off and on for almost 2 months. It's been horrible. You'd think moving a little stuff at a time would be the way to go, but getting it all over and done in one day is definitely the best way. That way only one day sucks instead of 2 months of sucking off and on.
We had a great weekend at the lake. The weather was really good and a good time was had by all. Girl child and I "hosted" Dance Party 2008 on Saturday night. I think I may still be recovering from that since we stayed up until about 3 or 4--can't really remember exactly what time it all ended. We all went out for a pontoon ride on Sunday, which was a perfect weather day. Good times!
Tonight my cousin and his wife and little boy are in town this week from Florida. We are going out to dinner with them tonight. Tomorrow night everyone who helped us move 2 weeks ago are coming over for a cookout. Thursday night I have to work. I'm really bummed about Thursday because it's the 2-hour season finale of 'Lost'. I will tape it, but it's not the same. I don't know if any of you watch it or not, but it's totally sucked this season. If I didn't have 4 years of TV viewing invested in it, I would've stopped watching it, but it's too late now. I still haven't watched the season finales of 'Ugly Betty' and 'Grey's Anatomy' from last week. I'm a little behind on my TV viewing apparently.
By the way, thanks for all the comments under the 'Confessions' post. We've hit a blog record--3 comments!! I'm pretty jazzed. Sad, but true.

Aren't these cool? These are made from flowers from bridal bouquets. I so wish I'd known about this. What a neat keepsake. I had heard of other flower preservationists that freeze dry them, but just today found out about these unique works of art. Right now my bouquet is sitting dead in the fridge. I guess I will have to break down and throw it out, but I just can't bear to yet. These would be neat to do with any flowers you want to keep. It's a little pricey, but it's also priceless if you have flowers that you can't replicate that you want to preserve.

I have some confessions
I've been holding some things back from you readers--dirty little secrets that I thought were too terrible to share. Today I've decided that's not fair. If I'm going to do this thing, I'm going to do it and let it all hang out. As the Pioneer Woman says, I'm going to keep it real.
*Confession #1--I started smoking again about 3 months ago. The stress of the wedding, moving, you name it, made me cave. I made it 8 months without smoking so I know I can do it again and I fully intend to. I think Mr. is going to quit with me this time. That will make it a lot easier. Of course, it could end our marriage because I get pretty bitchy when I don't have my smokes...at least initially...but my health is worth the risk.
*Confession #2--I am a procrastinator in the worst way. I have put off writing thank you notes from the wedding (I did one batch of them and have stalled); I keep putting off going to the social security office to change my name (Is there a deeper, psychological reason I am delaying this? Do I really want to hold onto my name? These are questions only Dr. Phil can answer); I need to get my resume done so I can get a real job (This has only been put off for a little over a year. That's not a long time, right?). Procrastination is hard to overcome sometimes.
*Confession #3--I hate going to the grocery store. Of all of the domestic chores a wife is "supposed" to do, I absolutely hate going to the grocery store most of all. I think it's the planning of the meals that has to be done before the shopping that makes me hate the shopping. I have lots of recipes I'd love to try; I love reading recipes and imagining the meal they will make (I could read a recipe book like a novel) and I really do love to cook, but the shopping sucks. Therefore, I think I've only been to the grocery 2 times since Mr and I have lived together.
*Confession #4--I hate to clean. If grocery shopping is the #1 thing I hate to do domestically, cleaning is a close second. I am really good at straightening things--I like order a lot and I try to always keep the house straight--but if there are dust bunnies the size of Texas in the corners or under the bed, it doesn't bother me in the least...until it does. What I mean is, I can live with the bunnies in harmony for quite a while, then the urge will hit and I can't stand it one more minute and the cleaning frenzy starts. Unfortunately, this frenzy doesn't hit often enough. Can you believe that some people clean their houses once a week? It's true; I read it on the internet.
*Confession #5--I miss wedding planning. Yes, I know, I was complaining about the wedding getting here soon because I was so sick of planning, but I do miss it. I loved looking at ideas on the internet, reading the Knot compulsively, piecing the whole day together. I really do miss it. Now some of you might say, "Mrs, becoming a wedding planner might be a good job for you." You'd be wrong. I don't want to deal with brides. Brides can be the pickiest, most obsessive, bitchy people to deal with in the world and I wouldn't want that pressure. Of course, I wasn't like that--I really wasn't. Ask Bean or Mr. They can tell you. I only had a few bridezilla moments, like with the invitations, but other than that, I think I did pretty good. If you read a few posts on the Knot, you'd know exactly what I'm talking about.
Well, that's it. My confessions, at least for today. That's enough truth for you all to absorb in one setting. If you feel the need to confess, post them in the comments. Confession is good for the soul. It's true; I read it on the internet.

I'm back in business, baby!
I have the internet at the house!!! The phone guy just came and even though the phone company told me that I wouldn't have the internet until after 8 pm tonight, I'm on it now, baby! I am so pumped!! I feel like I'm back in touch with the world.
Other good news, I got the furniture moved and sold from my house yesterday. I came down $25 on the tv. Can you believe that tv is 21 years old?!!! It works just fine, though, and their tv went out just last week so it's a win/win for everyone.
Also, the appraiser came through the house yesterday. Although we haven't gotten the "official" structural engineer's report, apparently everything is okay so they sent the appraiser through. Now the FHA reviewer has to review the report and we should be in the free and clear. We're very pumped about that.
More good news, I got someone to cover my call-in shift at work tomorrow so we can leave for the lake whenever we want--hopefully beating the holiday traffic. Mr is on his way home now so all is right with the world.

I need a 12-step program
It's been 3 days since I've been on the internet and I've definitely got the DT's. Male child took his computer when he moved and I disconnected my service at my house to transfer it to our house so I've been without it for 3 days--did I say that already? I don't know when it will be hooked up at our house since they have to send me another modem. I was at my wit's end so today I am at my aunt's house to get my fix. Do they have a 12-step program for internet addicts? If not, I may just form one.
Things here have been busy. Sunday male child moved into his new house then they came down to my house to load all of my crap. I say "all" but there is still a ton of junk down there. I went down yesterday and brought another carload of it home. I still have several trips to make. Tonight I am going down to meet my neighbors across the street so they can get my entertainment center, bedroom suite and tv. They're buying it all for $200 which I thought was pretty good, plus I'm getting rid of it so I don't have to move it! My dad is coming for the dryer sometime and male child has a few things he's still going to take, too.
The structural engineer examined the house on Monday, but our realtor hasn't heard back from them yet. I hope we hear today so we can move forward with the next phase--the appraisal. Next Friday is still supposed to be the closing date. Keep your fingers crossed.
Mr. is traveling this week so I've been baching it at the house. I have gotten a lot done and organized but again, still lots to do. It's been kinda lonely there without him there. After living alone for so long, I thought I would really enjoy being alone in the house this week, especially since there have been so many people in and out of the house for the past few weeks. It is nice in a way, but not as nice as I thought it would be! I miss him and I can't wait until he gets home so we can officially start the newlywed phase of our marriage.
I picked up the pictures from our photographer on Tuesday. They're even better in person. I absolutely love them and was so excited that she was able to shoot our wedding. Mom came over to the house last night to look at them and I made meatloaf. Yes, I did cook. Figures the night I cook and Mr is out of town. I guess we have a whole lifetime of me cooking for him, though.
I need to go to the s.s. office today to get the process rolling for the name change. I am procrastinating major as I just don't want to stand in line there all day. I may put that one off until tomorrow.
Did those of you in Kentucky vote yesterday? I hope so. I always love voting--I feel so powerful and like I can really make a difference.
We are headed to the lake for the holiday weekend on Friday. I don't know when, though, because I am a call-in at work. I can't call in until 5 and then I may have to work 6 to close. I sure hope note. The weather is supposed to be great here this weekend.
I don't know when I'll be able to post again, especially with the long weekend coming up. If I don't talk to you before then, have a safe, fun and happy weekend!

OUR WEDDING PICTURES ARE READY!

I copied this picture off of another blog from May 1st. This is in Death Valley. They said this was the highest of 3 stations near them. The lowest was $4.25. Wonder what it is now?
Pictures Galore
Today I decided to flood you with some pictures since recently I've been writing a lot with none. First, I have to start out with pictures of Miss Daisy. I don't think I ever posted any since she got her haircut before the wedding. She looks like a completely different dog when she's trimmed.
The update on my house is the inspector went through a couple of days ago and there are a few things they want fixed or $500. Depending on how major the stuff is they want fixed, we will probably go with the $500 and be done with it. The buyer is going through the house again in about an hour and he wants a structural engineer to look at this crack in the foundation on Monday. I don't think the engineer will find anything major. That crack was there when I bought it. Plus, the house is 75+ years old--there are going to be cracks, etc. in it. It's been pouring the rain here so I'm sure he will also see the water in the basement--again, no surprise since it's a block foundation and I disclosed this on the disclosure document. Keep those good vibes and prayers going up--we're not there yet!

As promised, here are some pictures of male child's house. Yesterday's closing went great plus there was a surprise that none of us knew about at the closing. Basically, he got almost a 1/4 of an acre piece of land which is right across the street from his house for free. The owner "thought" he'd mentioned it to his real estate agent and unbeknownest to us, the past couple of days our real estate agent was trying to work out the details. It's a super nice little perk because he could potentially sell the piece of land across the street and still live in his house. Don't you just love good surprises like that? They sure don't happen very often, esp. in real estate. Here's male child standing in front of his front door. He's got a really cute little porch.

Babies on the brain
No, I'm not having a baby or even planning to, but 2 of my cousins are and I'm jonesing to plan a baby shower. I guess I am in the "planning" mode still because I am just dying to plan something. You'd think I'd be tired of planning, but baby showers are so fun.

My cousin's wife E is due on Sept. 1st so I contacted her sister-in-law (my other cousin) to see if anyone was scheduling a baby shower for her yet. Yes, they are doing it in July. My other cousin's wife J is due at the end of October so I contacted her today to see if I could throw a shower for her and she said yes! August 3rd is the date. I can't believe I'm so excited to throw a baby shower. I think baby showers are the most fun showers. The itty bitty gifts are so fun to look at--all of the pastel colors, cute clothes, oh my. I can't wait to get the invitations and decorations ordered. I may have this thing planned by the end of May. I was really hoping to throw both of them, but I'm so glad J is letting me throw one for her. Plus, I get to use all of my fancy, schmancy entertaining stuff we got for the wedding. Can't wait.
I would love to show you the ultrasound pictures that J sent to me that they got done yesterday, but it has her full name on it and you know how I feel about posting that kind of stuff on the internet. One is a picture of its little feet and the other one it has its hand up and you can see all 5 of its fingers! I keep saying "its" because they are not going to find out the sex before it's born. It's so frustrating because hardly anyone waits anymore and we've gotten spoiled about knowing the sex of the baby before it's born. E is having a boy but they haven't picked out a name yet.
I did go get 1 of my prescriptions filled yesterday. Turns out it was kind of important--more steroids. I am somewhat better, but still not totally over this. I get bouts of itching that are really bad, esp. on my hands as of late. I can't believe this is dragging on so long. I thought the shot would fix it. I can only take the Benadryl at night so I don't know if that's what's holding up the total healing or not.
In just a little over an hour male child will be closing on his house. We are going to the house afterward so hopefully I'll have some pics for you tomorrow of that.
I gotta show you the pictures that the girl child photoshopped for me of the church. They turned out so cool! The truck is completely gone.

Weird Wednesday
Well, I ended up going to the dr. yesterday and got a steroid shot in my buttisimo and 3 scripts, which I haven't gotten filled yet. I took 2 doses of Benadryl and ended up calling into work. This morning I was itching some more but not nearly as bad. I thought the shot and Benadryl would take care of the problem and I could save $ by not getting the scripts filled, but I think I'm going to have to get them filled today. I have no idea what's going on, but I'm ready for it to stop.
It's raining and crappy here today. I am going to work at my aunt's today helping her organize her closet and office--places I've already organized for her once, but she doesn't keep it up. I like organizing stuff. It makes me feel like I've really accomplished something after it's done. I can't wait to get this house organized. I will really feel like something's accomplished after that's done.
Male child is officially closing on his house on Thursday at 4:00! I can't believe it's really going to happen. It has actually only been about a month since he wrote the contract, but they told him they would close in a week so it just feels longer. He's been so frustrated with the whole process so I am glad he is finally going to be done with it. I may take pics of the inside of the house and post here. It is so cute. I'm really excited for him.

Sad Tuesday
Well, it was a sad day yesterday in Mr and Mrs-ville--the boy child left for Italy. It's always hard to say goodbye, even when you know someone is going to be going somewhere exciting and fun. He wasn't ready to leave, either. Once he gets to Italy I'm sure he'll be fine, but goodbyes always suck. In addition, he had all kinds of trouble with his flights. When he got to Baltimore they told him that he didn't have the right kind of orders to get on the flight to Italy. They had to get in contact with his old base so they could give them the go-ahead. Quite a mess. He ended up leaving about 2 hours earlier than scheduled, too. He was flying on an Air Force plane so I guess they are on their own schedule. He was going from Baltimore to Germany and then to Italy. Originally he should've been in Italy by 10:30 a.m. our time today, but since he left early, he should already be there, I guess. These time change differences are hard to calculate and remember.
Because the boy child has been in the AF since Mr and I were dating seriously, I've had very little time to get to know him better. His trips home have been few and I just generally haven't gotten to know him as well as the other two. With me living in the house this time and him staying here, I've gotten to know him better--even though he slept until afternoon most days! That's the long way of saying I miss him.
I've got some kind of allergic reaction going on today. It started last night at work. I had to work until about 11:30 and I was itching my fool head off--literally. My scalp, legs, back, palms, feet, you name it are itching me to death and the more I scratch, the more little whelps are coming up on my body. I can't figure out what has caused this because I didn't do anything or eat anything differently yesterday than I ever do. I'm about to go to Kroger and get some Benadryl or something. I don't think I can take this all day and it doesn't seem to be letting up. I'm a little afraid of the Benadryl, though. I took it once in college after I'd laid in a tanning bed too long and got sun poisoning. I drove home from my job and didn't remember driving home. Apparently I don't react too well to that drug.

I didn't update you on our Mother's Day extravaganza. The food that my cousin and I made was was surprisingly good. It was fun cooking in the kitchen with her even though she doesn't really cook. She was a lot of help, though, and we got many compliments on our spread. They said we were kind of stupid, though, because we cooked so well that they will want us to continue doing it. My aunt even wants me to attempt Thanksgiving. I'd love to try to do that. Right now I only bring the sweet potato casserole and a dessert. It'd be a hoot to try to make mashed potatoes and let's not even talk about what a scream it would be to cook the turkey. I think I'd rather help than be in total charge of it. She's got about 40+ years of cooking experience on me and Thanksgiving is the Big Kahuna. I need to start with making dinner every night for Mr and build up to that one.
The male child turned in all of the paperwork on his house yesterday...again. Supposedly he is going to close on Thursday. We'll see. I don't think any of us are getting our hopes up--esp. him--since we've been told this crap before. What's going on with him is what I'm afraid will happen with the buyer of my house. They can make you jump through so many hoops that it's ridiculous. Can you believe that he needed original bank statements (which he shredded the first copy, why I don't know but...) so the bank charged him $15 to print out new ones?? What a crock. What happened to customer service? Who ever heard of charging you to get copies of YOUR information? Anyway, he got the stuff they said he needed so we'll wait and see.

You don't have to join or anything to leave a comment and it would help me to not feel like I was just talking to myself--not that I don't do that a lot already--but it would be nice to have some comments. Sunny Saturday
It's a beautiful day here today--sunny, warm--and I've been inside cooking all morning. I told you about the Mother's Day extravaganza we've been conned into hosting tomorrow. I made peanut butter drop cookies today and have cole slaw "marinating" in the fridge.
I worked last night. We were busy, but I bet they'll be even busier today and tomorrow. Everyone waits until the last minute for Mother's Day gifts. They should have parents that volunteer their kids to do stuff like ours did.
Mr and I signed the contract yesterday and now we just have to wait for the buyer's loan approvals, inspections, etc. I'm really worried about the house passing the FHA inspections. That's the type of loan the buyer is getting and I hear that they are very picky. Again, please send good thoughts up. We need them.

Happy Friday
Yes, it's a happy Friday here in Mr and Mrs-ville. We got a contract on my house!! It's for only 3000 less than we were asking which is super. They want to close on May 30th which is even better if we can avoid another house payment. Please send up prayers that all the inspections, loans, etc. go smoothly. It would be so awesome if all of this fell into place.
Male child's house situation has been a pain. He was getting some special loan where he got grant money then they decided he made 1000 too much to qualify for it. He's gotten an extension on the contract until the 15th so hopefully everything will fall into place for him by then, too.
This is the last weekend before the boy child leaves for Italy on Monday. Girl child is putting together an Italian-themed cookout for him on Saturday which should be a good time.
The second generation of our family has been volunteered to cook for the older generation on Mother's day so that should be fun. I am going shopping today to buy the food and my cousin is coming over on Sunday so we can cook. She doesn't cook anything and wanted to do pizza, but she is baking a box cake for her contribution. I'll have her cooking something, too. We'll make a Betty Crocker out of her yet!

Mini-moon pics
Today I thought I'd share some of our "mini" moon pictures. We called it a mini moon since we only stayed a couple of days. Here's the obligatory Smoky Mtn. picture.
This is just a meadow that looked nice that day. I love the colors in this picture. Maybe I can blow this one up, too.
We love to go to Cades Cove mainly because of all of the wildlife we always see there. We saw tons of deer.
And lots of turkeys. They try to keep them slowed down so they have to post a speed limit sign.
And, of course, our most exciting spottings--6 bears! These 2 were right next to the road as we were leaving Cades Cove. Needless to say, we were VERY excited.
This is a picture of my favorite church back there. I'm hoping to Photoshop that car out of the pic so maybe I can blow it up and hang it in our house.

In another area of the park we saw lots of butterflies. I can't remember the last time I saw a butterfly. I took several pictures of them, but here's one.

Married Monday
Yes, I am officially married!! It was a WONDERFUL day. Mr. and I both said we enjoyed the day so much, but it just went way too fast. I couldn't believe how fast the reception went by. It truly was a fantastic day and all that I'd hoped it would be.
Our mini moon to Gatlinburg was great. We had a really nice chalet that I already showed you pics of with a great view over downtown Gatlinburg. We went to our favorite place--Cades Cove--to go bear hunting and actually saw 6 bears back there. It was great. I have pictures, but don't have them with me, but I will upload them later. After we spent 3 days in Gatlinburg, we went to the lake on Thursday through Sunday. The kids came down Friday night and we had a really fun time. Not many people were down, but we still had a blast.
We got so many awesome gifts. When we got back home yesterday, the living room was halfway filled with them--ones delivered while we were gone and also the ones that were brought to the wedding. It was awesome. We bought a beautiful painting in Gatlinburg as a remembrance from our honeymoon that we'll hang in our living room. Much better than a t-shirt!! I will take a picture and post that, too.
Just wanted to touch base with everyone and let you know we had a truly wonderful week last week, beginning on Saturday and carrying through until yesterday.
