Thankful Thursday

Yes, it's that day again. The day we all count our blessings in our life. Where to begin, where to begin.

1. I am thankful that we are 2 days away from the wedding and all our planning and work is soon to be a reality. So excited!

2. I'm thankful I don't have a hangover today since I drank many cervezas last night. We ended up having a houseful of people and it was a lot of fun. I am thankful for having good, fun friends and family and soon-to-be family.

3. I'm thankful my girl Bean is on her way up today. I know I mentioned it yesterday, but I'm excited and I'm thankful and this is my blog so I can repeat myself if I want to. (I can also cry if I want to, but not today :-)

4. I'm thankful it's beautiful weather today. It may or may not be beautiful on Saturday, but I'm also thankful I'm not obsessing about it. They say it's good luck if there's some rain on your wedding day. I don't know any brides who think that, but whatever.

5. I'm thankful that I finally got Rosie O'Donnell to answer me on her blog! Beyond exciting. Check it out. Her link is on the right. Go under "Ask Rosie" and scroll down to the posts she answered last night. I am MelissaM and I am keeping her informed of our countdown too. She finally gave me a shout out and wished us a happy wedding!!! It's very exciting to see your name on a celebrity's blog even if it's not your whole name and no one else knows it's you.

Things will probably be getting crazy here the next 2 days so I don't know when or if I will post again before the wedding. I'll try to do at least a short one, but no promises.

Wedding Dress Wednesday

I picked up my dress today. All seems well with it and I think I'm liking it more and more. Apparently my nerves are hitting me, though, because I am having a beer at 2:00 in the afternoon. I feel better already. Good thing the wedding is only 3 days away or I might become an alcoholic. Like how I just snuck the wedding countdown in there and you didn't even notice?

I really don't have much to do today which is why I thought I'd start drinking. I have to get some gifts together and work on some cards, but otherwise, I'm in good shape.

My Bean is coming up tomorrow. I can't WAIT for her to get here! I really can't believe the day after tomorrow will be the rehearsal where we're going to go over everything that's going to happen at the actual wedding. Unbelievable.

Terrific Tuesday

Yes, we are now 4 days from the big day. Today I am taking the dog to the vet to get her rabies shot and other shots that she is behind on so I can get her trimmed on Thursday. I have to be the only bride-to-be in history who is taking care of her dog and not wedding tasks the week of her wedding. It's called good planning, people. Just kidding. Anyway, it has to be done because the little girl has to have a haircut for the wedding, too!

Speaking of haircuts, tonight I have to give Mr. his haircut and I think boy child needs one, too. Having men in your life who like to have their hair buzzed is a blessing since you can do it yourself. I'm thinking of buzzing mine after the wedding--just kidding, folks. Although it would be so much easier to take care of.

By the way, the Reds lost last night, big time. We had fun at the game, though. I picked up the programs yesterday and they look really good. We are hand-signing the backs of each of them so that's also another to-do tonight. Still haven't gotten our marriage license. The timing just didn't work out yesterday. Mr. had to work in Dayton today but hopefully he'll be back in time to get it today. Time is ticking away so there's no time to waste.

Matrimony Monday

5 days until our wedding day! I can't believe it's so close. I will probably say that every day this week.

Yesterday I got my hair colored to cover up all of the gray. I dropped off the programs at Staple's for scoring. Today I don't have a lot to do except pick up the programs--right on target and according to plan. One major thing we haven't done yet is get the marriage license. Just a small detail. I think we are going today. Tonight we are going to the Reds' game so that should be fun.

No pictures for you today. I haven't taken any pics in a few days. I've started stalking the weather for Saturday. It literally changes from day to day--sometimes it's going to rain, sometimes it's partly cloudy. I guess I will really start to pay attention about Wednesday.

Serene Sunday

I love Sundays. I love to get up whenever I want, have a cup of coffee, sit out on the deck, do whatever I want. There really isn't anything better than Sundays to me. Saturday you feel like you have to do stuff--chores and then out on the town. Just because I "feel" like I should do stuff doesn't mean I actually do, but I don't like the pressure of Saturdays. When we are at the lake, Sundays are my least favorite day because it's "going home" day which means packing up, cleaning up, etc. It sucks and then Saturday becomes my fav. But for today, I love Sundays.



Got a lot done yesterday. The programs are done except I have to take them to Staples for scoring so we can fold them. The seating cards are done and alphabetized. The cupcake tree is finished. Life is good! I'm pretty much right on track for my scheduled peaceful week next week. Heard from the hair and the makeup girls and we're all confirmed on those. Like I said, Life is good!

Freaky Friday

Today is definitely freaky Friday--there was an earthquake early this morning. Apparently it centered in Illinois, but several people around here felt it. I wasn't one of them. I remember years ago when we had another earthquake, I was probably 10 and laying in my bed and it started to shake. My mom runs into my room and says, freaking out, "Get outta the house!" By that time, though, it had already stopped. I had no idea what was going on and just kinda laid there, stunned. I'm glad we didn't feel this one. How weird.



The male child has found a house! It's his for the taking and he called the realtor late last night to accept the owner's counter offer, but never heard back from her. Right not it's about 11:15 in the morning and he's still not up. Ah, the luxuries of being a twentysomething! Anyway, I hope no one else has put a bid on it because if he loses this one, he may just 'lose' it. If he isn't up soon, I'm going to wake him up.



Boy child is driving in today. Mr. hasn't heard from him yet so he's probably sleeping in, too, although he is an hour behind out in Nebraska.



It's 8 days until our wedding day today. This time next week I will have gotten a massage and be getting ready to go with the girls for mani/pedi's at a salon near here. I'm starting to get really excited! I 'think' I got the seating chart done yesterday. You have NO idea how hard that is to do. I know I've complained about it on here before, but yesterday I was just about at my wit's end. I think I've got it settled, though. Today is program day. I've got to get those done and over to my mom so she can start printing them out. After that, just the ribbon on the cupcake tree and I should be done. Do you think it's weird that I think I'll be able to go to the Reds' game on Monday night on the week of my wedding? My mom gets free tickets through work and she's gotten us some. I think I should be able to go. I think my friends on the Knot may think I'm insane to think I could do that on the actual wedding week, but I think I will. I'll let you know.



It's beautiful weather here today. I was looking at the weather for next Saturday and it says it's going to be 65 and cloudy. Better than what it's been saying all week which was 60 percent chance of rain on that day. Of course, it's over a week away and that will probably change anyway. I won't start weather stalking seriously until Monday. Weather is one thing you can't control on your wedding day for sure!

It's a known problem

The spacing issue that I'm having on the blog is a "known problem" to blogger, but they haven't gotten a fix for it. Doesn't help us much, does it? How annoying. I guess I am getting what I pay for.

Thankful Thursday already!

I can't believe it's Thursday again already. This past week has absolutely flown by. I guess the next week will, too. Today is 9 days from our wedding day. I can't believe we're in single digits finally.





Yesterday was a productive day. I got more ribbon for the cupcake tree, picked up the best men gifts that Mr. had ordered and ran other, non wedding-related errands. I also worked last night.





Today is another busy day. The focus is getting the programs done, seating chart done and finishing the cupcake tree. Looks like I'm not working at all next week so that's great.





After I came home from running my errands yesterday, on my porch was a vase of flowers from my BFF and MOH, Bean. For those who aren't familiar with abbreviations, BFF is 'best friend forever' and MOH is 'maid of honor'. Here's a picture of the beautiful gerber daisies.




Aren't they beautiful? Those are also 2 wedding gifts we've received--the sugar bowl and creamer of one design of our china. Thanks so much, Bean. It was so thoughtful. Having Bean in my life is definitely always on my list of things I'm grateful for. I don't know how I would've made it through all of this wedding stuff without her. She is truly my sister friend in every way.



On the real life front, male child has put a bid on a house. It is absolutely adorable. It looks like they've rehabbed the entire house and everything is new in it. I am so excited for him and hope they accept his offer. It would be so exciting if the second male child--henceforth known as boy child--were able to see his brother's new house while he was in. I've already started making plans for a party at the house!! This house would be such a good fit for him so send the prayers up that he gets it.







I've added a new blog that I am starting to read. Look for the link on the right. It's a heartbreaking story about a woman with CF who received a double lung transplant after she had a severely premature baby. Her husband writes the blog and gives updates on both of his ladies. It's amazing what people go through and the strength with which they go through it. Yet another reason to be thankful for the health in my life and those who are dearest to me. So often we take our health for granted when in actuality, if you don't have your good health, you have so many struggles. Having good health and love in your life is really all you need.







I'm off for the day. Because it's thankful Thursday, be sure to take time to count your blessings today. We should all do this every day--but very few of us do--so starting with at least 1 day is a good way to ease into it.

Tacky Tuesday

It's tacky Tuesday here in weddingland because I am gluing all of the ribbon onto the vases for the centerpieces at the reception. In addition, I have to figure out something for the cupcake tree since we are out of ribbon. I went to this candle discount place yesterday to buy floating candles for them and got severely lost in Cincinnati--I mean, drive for 20 min. and have no idea where I am kind of lost. I hate Ohio. They have the stupidest road systems. I was so relieved, joyous, exuberant, ecstatic to be back in Ky. Did I tell you that I hate Ohio?

Anyway, these free vases that the wedding planner is letting us use are starting to get expensive so I refuse to buy anything else for the centerpieces. They are what they are. Who remembers centerpieces anyway, really? I should've just used the ones the reception site had and be done with it, but the wedding planner talked me into using theirs. Again, I thought, they're free and they look better so why not? By the time you add my labor, gas, ribbon, candles, pain in the ass, they're pretty daggone expensive!! Here's a mockup of what I think they will look like at the reception. The first is without the candles lit. The second one is obviously with the candles lit.

Here's one with just the tall vase with the ribbon I've so meticulously glued on and no water in the vase.

I hope they'll look good. There will be more candles in small votive holders around the vases, too, which the reception place provides. It should look nice.

I've got a lot of pics to post today so I'm going to try not to write so much so it doesn't scrunch up. Here is a picture of the laziest dog in America. She climbs up into bed after I get up and makes herself at home. Rotten.

Mr. made the reservations for our honeymoon suite, chalet, cabin, whatever you want to call it. It has a gorgeous view.

In case you can't tell, we're going to Gatlinburg for a few days. We're calling it a mini-moon as opposed to a honeymoon because we're only going for a few days since 2nd male child is only in for a short time. We also went to Gatlinburg right after we got engaged last year so it has kind of become a sentimental favorite location.

We've got the meeting with the florist and the baker tonight--same company, different people. After that, we're meeting the male child to go looking at houses with him. He has 8 to look at so hopefully we don't run out of sunlight before we get through them all.

I think I know what the problem is

Sorry for the post below and how it is all scrunched together. Seriously, I do know where a paragraph break should be...most times, anyway. This stupid site won't "take" the breaks and also it scrunches up all the regular lines of text, too. I think it's because of the pictures. Hope it's not as annoying to you to read as it is to me. I hate it when things aren't spaced properly. Looks like there's nothing I can do about it, though, if I'm going to continue posting pictures. Just wanted you all to know that I am aware of the problem, there's nothing I can do about it and it stinks.

Medical Monday

The title for today is my sucky news: I think I have a cold. Not a big medical mystery or even a condition under normal circumstances that would elicit more than a "oh, that sucks" comment from everyone, but it's very worrisome to me because we're 12 days out now and I certainly don't want to be sick. If any of you have any surefire cold remedies, please put them in the comments section. I was drinking orange juice yesterday--out of our new wine glasses I might add; I couldn't wait to use them--but it doesn't seem to have cured me yet.

Below is a picture of some of our accomplishments this weekend. The first 2 are pictures of the new blinds for the door to the deck.

I thought they look really good. Mr. had a difficult time hanging them to get the length just right off the floor. It's so nice to have them up. He's had them for just about the whole time he's lived here--5 or 6 years--and had never put them up. I like privacy because I know how nosey I am and I assume others are, too. You could see right into the house through that door without even straining for a look. Now we could walk around naked all day if we wanted to and no one would know--not that we'd do that, esp. with male child in the house, or even if he wasn't because that would be just wrong, but I'm just sayin' we could if we wanted to or got into that kind of thing.

The cupcake tree is turning out great. Yet another thing that I thought was neat, but once it's coming together, I'm really excited about. Mr. bought 24 cupcakes last night at Kroger so we could do a test run. Below are pictures of it with no cupcakes and with the ones he bought.

After I saw the pink and green, I thought it would've been so cute if those were our colors. Anyway, I put the ribbon along the edges. As you can see, I'm not done yet. I've run out of ribbon. I just wanted to use 4 of the layers, but Mr. wants to use them all so I will have to go buy more ribbon. It's a shame, too, because I have enough for 1 of the 2 remaining layers. Not bad for someone who didn't measure a thing before she went to buy the ribbon. We will also have to get more cupcakes to fill the tree out so we will probably be eating cupcakes until our first anniversary. Of course, my cousin's son is coming to the wedding who happens to LOVE cake. I don't mean have one piece and really enjoy it. I mean have about 5 pieces and love the hell out of each of them. We're counting heavily on him liking the cupcakes.

We have our tasting at the reception place tonight. I've already been once, but Mr. was out of town then so I took the male child, the girl child and my mom. It's great that he will get to go tonight so the burden doesn't lie solely on me to choose what we'll be eating that night. It's good food, too, so I don't think we can really go wrong with our choices.

I have to work on putting more ribbon on the centerpiece vases today. They're going well. I will show pictures of those tomorrow--I can't use all my pictures in one posting or you'll have nothing to look forward to! Don't forget to give me your surefire cures for me to knock this cold.

Saturated Sunday

It's raining and crappy here today. I have to go to meet the wedding coordinator to get the vases so I can decorate them. I'd rather just stay here and nap. Here's the view out our back door.



Yesterday I printed up the little cards we're going to distribute to everyone who checks into the hotel about having brunch with us on Sunday after the wedding at another hotel down the road. I also started putting the ribbon around the cupcake tree. I still have to finish the seating chart. I think those are the only projects remaining, along with decorating the vases for the reception and the programs. Hopefully I can get all of that done this week since the second male child is coming home Friday. I imagine things will get hectic around here fast, esp. with it being just one week before the wedding. I'd like to have a nice relaxing last week. We'll see if that plan falls into place!


Mr. is hanging the blinds for the deck door. He's having a heckuva time getting them hung. It will be nice to have them done, though. We are going to my house to fix the basement steps permanently instead of the temporary solution we have now.


Not much else going on today. We had 2 showings of my house this weekend, but still no contracts. I think we're going to have to lower the price. Our realtor hasn't mentioned doing that, but it's been over a month and no real hits. I'm sure she'll suggest it soon.

Sexy Saturday

I don't feel sexy today, but it goes with Saturday and you can't say sexy Sunday--I think there's a law or something. Anyway, sorry for no post yesterday. I was somewhat busy. I picked up my ring from the jeweler's. They were re-dipping it because it had become discolored. Now it looks brand new. I also picked up the final version of our video. LOVE it! I am so excited for everyone to see it. I'd love to post it, but it's about 7.5 minutes long, plus it has our first and last names on it and I'm a little weird about posting all of that on the internet for all the world to see. Maybe I can think of some way to do it.

I just got back from Mom's working on the wedding programs. We got the first draft done. I still have to finish the seating assignments and have Mom print those out. The stress got to me today--I was in a really foul mood earlier and feeling WAY overwhelmed. I guess the more I get done, the better I will feel. I will just be SO glad when the wedding day gets here and all of this preparation is behind me. Mr. is at the mall buying the gifts for the boys finally. I really feel like a nap is in order. Hope you have time to take one, too. Saturdays are great napping days, but not quite as good as Sundays!

My baking talents have no end

Today's delicacy--about-to-go-bad Easter bunny sugar cookies. Yum, yum! They also go with our wedding colors. Who knew?

Thankful Thursday

What an appropriate title for today and it really gives me a chance to think about the things I'm thankful for. I've really been trying to stop and not let this wedding frenzy get the best of me, but it's a struggle at times.

1. I'm thankful that I've found such a wonderful person to spend the rest of my life with. It sounds sappy, I know, but after all, that's what all this hullabaloo is all about. After waiting so long, I truly thought I wouldn't ever find someone as wonderful as Mr. is and someone who is such a good complement to my personality.

2. I'm thankful to have such loving, supportive friends and family. So many people have offered their help and support and are excited for us. It means more than you know or even more than I thought it would've.

3. I'm thankful we chose the wedding date we did. If we had changed it at all, the second male child wouldn't have been able to come to the wedding because he would've been in Italy already. It means so much to us that he's going to be able to be here for it.

4. I'm thankful that I've been blessed with the luxury of not having a full-time, high pressure job during all of this planning. Of course, meticulous money management, a.k.a. scrimping, had something to do with it, too. If I had started a new job and had the pressure of that and planning the wedding, it might've done me in.

5. I'm thankful for the lovely home we are living in. I was so nervous about moving in with Mr. and leaving my home of 6+ years. Living with other people is a BIG change from living alone. I was scared of the adjustment, but so far, so good. For that, I am very grateful. Along with that, I am grateful to get to know the male child better. Nothing helps you to know someone better and faster than living with them!

That's just a few of the things I'm grateful for on this Thankful Thursday. Maybe I'll make this a regular on the blog. Try it for yourself. When you have to stop and think of the things you're thankful for, it really gives you some perspective.

On another note, here is the picture for the post. We got 4 beautiful wine glasses yesterday. Unfortunately one was broken, but they are sending a replacement. I hadn't seen these in person when I registered for them, but they are awesome. Mr. really likes them, too.

I was trying to get all fancy with the pink flower props! I know I have a photographer in me--I just need to let her out!

This one is for the door leading from the garage to the kitchen. A lot of dirt gets tracked through here so we needed something.

You can tell from the tag still on it that I haven't decided 100% to keep it. I'm thinking I may leave it on there and go for the Minnie Pearl look for rugs. Whaddya think?

Whacky Wednesday

How do you like today's name? I think it's fun, but Wednesdays are obvious. The formatting on the blog continues to be out of whack which, now that I think about it, makes today's name appropriate. I hate it because it's hard to read when it's all smushed together. I'm trying a different font today to see if that helps.

Today I FINALLY get my hair cut. If you could see how I've been going around in public--to work no less--you'd be embarrassed for me. Not after today, though.

We had the meeting with the DJ last night. He's the same one who did my 40th birthday party. Whoops, did I just post my age for all the world to see? Oh, who gives a rip. It is what it is and I yam what I yam (Popeye for those who don't know). Anyway...I'm excited about our entrance song and just the night in general. As different details fall into place, I get excited about each one.

For your viewing pleasure, more photos of new purchases. In case you think I am spending my money like a wild woman, these purchases were made with gifts cards I received either from my shower or for my birthday. I love gift cards--I get my shopping fix, but I don't spend any money!

Turkey Tuesday

Nothing in this post is about turkeys--I just like the alliteration of the 2 t's! I know I'm weird. It's hard to come up with catchy headers every day. I thought about doing a countdown every day, but then I thought that might freak me out. So I guess I will try this until I run out of ideas.



Yesterday the blog was all out of whack on the spacing. I couldn't make it do the paragraph breaks so don't think it was me typing that way. I guess that's technology for ya!



We had the meeting with the pastor yesterday. For those of you I haven't told, he is an Indian minister, meaning he's literally from India, a Christian minister, though. We saw him do a Sunday service and he's very nice and funny, but he has an accent so he's a little hard to understand. I'm kinda worried about that, esp. since my mom and aunt are hard of hearing. They may have to watch the video a few times to know what is being said. Since our last minister gave us the shaft at the last minute (leaving her position after we had already done all of the pre-wedding counseling, etc. with her), this was our only option. I am trying to believe that everything happens for a reason and this pastor, Simon, is the one who was meant to do our wedding. The meeting yesterday was kinda quick and he is supposed to email the ceremony to us for us to look over. I gave him some of the stack of ideas I've accumulated. I'd like for our vows to be unique and meaningful to us. Like he said, though, no one, probably not even us, will remember what was said!



Tonight we meet with the DJ. I still haven't started working on programs--my mom sent me something she put together and this may be the project I let her do on her own. It would be nice to just turn something over to someone and have them just do it. I also still have to buy ribbon for the vases for the centerpieces. The seating cards need printed as well as the seating chart finished. For those of you who are coming to the wedding who read this, please don't bitch about where we seat you. I did my best! I figure you'll only be eating at the table. The rest of the time you will be dancing or talking to other people. You can't imagine how difficult it is to put people at a table. We weren't going to do a seating chart, but the wedding coordinator suggested it's really the easiest way to utilize all of the tables efficiently. True, but still a pain in the ass!

Just thought I'd put a random picture of something in here--I was getting too wordy--and like I said before, the 3rd grader in me likes pictures! This is Miss Daisy with all of her toys around her--part of them. It cracks me up how she drags them all out since we've lived here. She hardly ever did that at home, but she does it almost every day here!

19 days and counting...

Yes, it's 19 days from today that I will be a Mrs. and Mr. will be a married Mr. I really can't believe it's so close. I guess every day I will probably think that since it's getting closer and closer and closer.

We got a lot done over the weekend. Mr. got crazy with the spray paint and painted our cupcake tree and basket for the programs.

Now all I have to do is buy some ribbon to put around the outside edges of the cupcake tree and maybe a little skirt on the bottom--not sure about that yet.

We did lots of cleaning up around here, too. I haven't mentioned Mr's other male child who is in the Air Force. He is coming home next Friday to stay for 3 weeks and then he's off to Italy for 3 years! He's very excited about Italy, but that's a long time to be away from home. I guess if you had to be somewhere for that long, Italy is a good place to be. It really worked out well as far as timing. If we'd decided to get married in the fall, he would've already been in Italy and I'm not sure if he would've been able to come home for the wedding. It's amazing how things are completely meant to be and God's timing is always perfect...that's just hard to remember in other times when things aren't happening the way I think they should or I want them to!

I hung another shower curtain this weekend. I was trying to wait until I moved my stuff because I want to use the silver hangers not these gold ones, but I decided it's not that hard to change them and I was excited to get it hung. This is in our bathroom.

Still trying to decide on the color of the rugs. I kinda like the tan, but I registered for brown and then these really cool ones with blue, brown and tan squares on them. Those might be the best since eventually the walls will be blue. Hanging there on the right side of the picture is one of our new towels, too! I am so digging using this new stuff.

The open house at my house went really well yesterday. There were 4 groups of people who went through and the realtor thinks out of 2 of the couples, 1 might be our buyer. The bad part is the last 3 steps in the basement broke yesterday when the first clients went through! Because the basement leaks, the steps had rotted. We went down yesterday afternoon and Mr. measured for the kind of wood we'll need to fix them with. She also told me that there was something wrong with the garage door. Turns out there was just a piece of wood that had moved and it was getting caught on that. That was an easy fix. I hope this house sells soon before more stuff starts breaking. I don't think I've had this many problems the whole 6 1/2 years I've lived there!!

Today is the meeting with the preacher to discuss the flow of the ceremony. I've got all kinds of readings, vows, suggested ceremonies that I've collected. Now it's just going through all of them to find one we really like. Tomorrow night should be a really fun meeting--the DJ--when we get to talk about the details of the party part of all of this!

Yay for makeup!

Just got my 2nd makeup trial done and I am really happy with it. I look a lot more like myself. I would post it but for those of you who are coming to the wedding, you have to have some surprise, plus my hair looks like crap today and almost ruins the effect.

Anyway, yesterday I used the new mixer--I told you I was going to. For the first time I made peanut butter cookies. It was the only thing that we had ingredients in the house to make. I like them anyway so it all worked out. The mixer worked great and it's so much easier than hand beating it or even using a hand mixer. Here's a picture of them.

I've decided that I have a very short attention span and don't like reading stuff without pictures. I feel like a 3rd grader, but that's the truth. Once I get my computer to Mr's house for good, I can post more pictures, but right now, I can only post them when I'm at my house.

I decided to take a picture of some of the gifts we've gotten so far sitting on the counter. I had to take out the old coffeemaker since we haven't started using the new one yet. But here is the mixer, knives and canister sets that we've received.

I'm at my house today because someone is coming to look at it from 1 to 2 and also, the open house is tomorrow. I need good thoughts and prayers because I have big hopes of closing on this sucker the week after the wedding. That would be perfect timing. I better scoot so I can get out of here before they get here. Have a great weekend!

Very productive day

Yesterday was a very productive day for me. Actually, this whole week has been very productive. Last night we met with the photographer who is going to be so much fun to work with. Afterwards, we went to the church and met with the organist/pianist--same person. The church has a gorgeous pipe organ that sounds awesome! I am not an organ person--reminds me of funerals--but this organ sounds SO good. I got the appointments scheduled for the girls' mani/pedis the day before the wedding. There are 4 of us going and they can accommodate all of us at once so that should be fun. Our wedding coordinator package also comes with 2-1 hour massages so I'm hoping Mr and I can get those done Friday morning before the pedis.

We got another wonderful wedding gift sent to us yesterday--a stand mixer that also doubles as a hand mixer. I am SO excited to use it and have been going through recipes today to see what I'm going to make. My sisterfriend Bean sent it to us. Thanks, girl!

Tomorrow is my 2nd attempt at my 2nd makeup trial! I am going come hell or high water! We also have an open house at my house on Sunday from 12 to 2. Keep your fingers crossed for us to sell it. We are going to move the rest of the stuff, hopefully next week. I'd like to get as much settled as possible before the wedding. It's going to be pretty crazy around here soon!

I forgot to update you on the house hunt the other night. There were 2 houses that we all really liked but one has a major yard problem that doesn't seem to be easily fixed and the other sits right on a main road. They are both so cute--it's a shame that they each have issues. I told the realtor why does everything have to have a huge 'but'? "I love everything, but..." This house is so cute except for ...." It was the same way with planning different things for the wedding--"I love this dress, but the train sucks" "I love this invitation, but it's too expensive" On and on and on. I guess the life lesson is you can't have everything you want and everything doesn't have to be perfect. At least that's what I think the lesson is.

The first Wednesday of the month

In this area, the first Wednesday of every month they test the emergency sirens. As you can see below, Miss Daisy doesn't think much of this plan.

Here is a picture of the main bathroom. I only have the shower curtain up--no new rugs or any else.

It has actual powder puffs on the little shoes and actual bows on the powder puff. Too cute, but I don't think male child thinks a lot of it.

Here's a picture of the downstairs bathroom, a.k.a. the fun bathroom. I've always wanted a bathroom where I could decorate it kinda silly but cute. Since flip flops are a favorite of mine, that's what I went with.

In case you're thinking I am really going to be a horrible stepmom, terrorizing my step-male child with all of these girlie things, I did hold back putting down the flip flop rug. I thought that might be a little too much for him at this point!

April Fool's Day

I don't have to work today so I plan on running lots of errands. It's rainy and crappy here today--supposed to be thunderstorms later. I hate running errands in the rain, but I guess it can't be helped.

We got a wedding present yesterday--our Henckel (spelling probably not right) knife set. There is also supposed to be a pair of kitchen shears, but they are coming separately--don't know why. It was from Gary and Sharyn who won't be able to make it to the wedding. I hate that because they are so much fun. It was so thoughtful of them to send a gift anyway. I noticed they bought it on our 1 month, post anniversary which was cool, too!

Mr. and I discussed going to get our marriage license today. I think it would be funny to have April 1st as the date on it. I don't know if we will or not. The male child has appointments scheduled to look at houses today so that starts at 5.

I was going to take pics of the new bathroom stuff I've put up and our new bed linens, but my stupid camera's battery has died and of course, the charger is at my house. Stay tuned for those pics maybe later today or tomorrow.
