The elephant in the room

Mr and I have been busy the past couple of days. Not only have we been working a lot, but we've also been socializing a lot more than usual.

Thursday night I had my White Elephant party with the girls I used to work with and some other extras thrown in for fun. We meet at a local restaurant and get rid of all the crap we don't want anymore. It's fun because it is true--someone's trash is another person's treasure. We get rid of some really good stuff, some brand new even. It's always a lot of fun. I got this really cool Christmas runner and placemats for our table. Plus a wooden Santa. All of it is already out in our house and I love them.

Last night Mr and I went to another White Elephant party. This one has a group of people that have been doing it for 10+ years so we were the newbies on the block. It was a lot of fun because there are "good" gifts and "bad" gifts. An example of a "bad" gift would be what Mr got stuck with: anal beads, butt plug and an S&M package complete with whips and handcuffs! No matter how hard he tried, no one would steal his gift. I brought home a soft-sided cooler with beer in it already. Combine our two gifts, and you have a lovely evening at home...if you're so inclined :-)

Tonight we're supposed to be going to another Christmas party--no gifts at this one, just a gathering. I'm not sure we're going though because we woke up to some snow today. Snow that is actually staying on the roads and still coming down. I love days like this. I've got candles burning, Christmas tree lit and my robe on. I'm lovin' life right now. Unfortunately, there are some domestic chores I have to get caught up on namely, laundry. Our hamper is overflowing. Mr is working today so the dog and I are just hanging out alone. Because it's snowy and cold out, I feel the need to bake something. My waistline doesn't agree, but we'll see who wins the battle.
