I really do. It's been a while since I've been there, but yesterday I went to ours to donate the rest of the books from the yard sale that didn't sell and also to get my new library card with my new name and address--yes, yet another place I need to change my information. Where I live now the library is practically around the corner, especially compared to where one was in relation to my old house. I can't wait to visit it more often.
Anyway, when I go to the library I get almost the same thrill I get when I go to a bookstore except it may be even more because I know I can get any book, any book in the whole place, that I want and it's free. Usually this euphoria consumes me and I get overcome with potential and high goals. Sure, I can read 7 books in the one month's time they give me, no problem. Yeah, I can watch 4 videos in a week, why not? Truth be told, I've returned more than a few books unread and several videos unwatched, but who cares? It's free. I did recognize this tendency in myself yesterday so I only got 1 video and 2 novels. Still, there's no way in hell I will be able to read 2 novels in a month's time. Sure, in reality there's plenty of time to do it in, but in actuality, it ain't gonna happen. Still, I am aiming high and hope springs eternal. I'll let you know.
Speaking of things I love, I love stationery. Stationery of all kinds--notepads, note cards, invitations, sheets of paper, sticky notes, post-it notes, cubes of notes--you name it, if it's paper and it's got cute little designs, I love it. I have a kind of sick addiction to them, some might say. I sold a bunch of notecards in the yard sale. I had them priced at 25 cents each or 5 for $1.00. Some woman took all of my notecards and offered me $3.00. I thought $5 was a fair price because, lemme tell ya, she had a lot of them. In the end she won--$3. My heart was a little sad at parting with those notecards. Granted, they were mostly all cards I'd received as "gifts" from organizations I donate to regularly and many had cats on them--which I don't care for even if they are notecards--but still, my notecards are gone. Don't get me wrong, I still have a ton left and it's true, I hardly write notes to anyone anymore what with email and all, but still, my notecards are gone.
Maybe it's my English major background that cultivated my love of things written and the potential of a blank page. I've always enjoyed writing and I treasure heartfelt, handwritten notes and cards more than anything else I receive. Especially in this day and age of computers and emails and blogs, hardly anyone takes the time to send a card or a note or God forbid, a letter, to anyone else. I miss those days.
In college, the letters from home and friends were my lifeline. I looked forward to checking my mailbox in the dorm with immense anticipation--would I get a letter today, would I get a card today, would someone think of me today? I have boxes of cards and letters that I've received over the years. I save them all every year--Christmas cards, birthday cards, welcome spring cards, Valentine's cards, letters, no-reason cards. Every now and again I like to look through them. Some of the people are no longer in my life--friends that tend to slip away along the road of life. Some are still in my life and these letters give me a snapshot of our friendship and their life at that moment in time. Others have passed away. I treasure the letters my great-grandmother wrote to me in college, in her crooked, sometimes illegible handwriting. But she wrote it, took time to sit down and express whatever she was thinking at the time. It's like having a little piece of her still with me. That's what cards and letters are--little pieces of our hearts in an envelope. Maybe that's why I love them so.

Show me the money!
The yard sale was a resounding success Saturday. We made a little over $500--exceeding my goal. We got rid of a lot of stuff, too. The organizer of the sale has arranged for the Vietnam Vets to pick up the unsold stuff Monday so I still have to get that boxed up, but there's so much less to box up. We sold stuff right out of our living room so now we have no chair, no coffee table (we were temporarily using the ottoman that goes with the chair as the coffee table--tres chic) and no end table. It looks like we just moved in. I guess that's good, though, now we can go shopping for new stuff! I could have a yard sale every weekend if we made $500 every weekend. Not bad for 5 hours' work.
Today is Monday, but the date is showing up as Sunday since I started this post yesterday, but didn't finish it. I don't know why it isn't showing the actual date I'm posting, but oh, well. I don't have to work today so I'm going to spend the day getting the house straightened up some more, maybe return some wedding gifts that we've decided we really don't need and getting some other stuff with gift cards that we've gotten and writing thank you notes--no, I'm still not done. There's been too much other stuff going on so I've only gotten a portion out. Some of you reading this should've already gotten yours and some of you haven't so please bear with me! I'm usually so good about getting thank you's out quickly, but there's just been way too much stuff going on since the wedding. I guess I'm doing good to have gotten out the ones I have. I really think this week things will settle down since we have no major events we have to get ready for like we have the past several weeks. Can you believe we've been married 6 weeks already? Time is really flying.

Can you believe I was an English major?
The video rocks!
We got the video of our wedding yesterday and watched it last night. It is virtually unedited so it's not all "prettied" up, but I am SO glad we have it. We may have him edit it for our first anniversary, but for now, I'm treasuring this one. We got to see so many elements of the wedding prior to us coming out that we missed--reactions to the video we showed, people who showed up late! The latecomers are really funny. Plus, we got to see a lot of stuff at the reception that we missed since we were visiting with people and were in and out of the room a lot. He kind of edited it to the highlights so the DVD was close to 2 hours long when in actuality, he taped for 5 hours. We have the truly raw images on some small tapes that we have no way of playing right now. I think I was more nervous watching the video than I was on the day of the actual wedding!
I gotta let you know about my 3 new favorite fragrances at Bath and Body Works--Coconut Lime Verbana, Exotic Coconut and Fresh Pineapple. Unfortunately, I am a latecomer to enjoying the pineapple and coconut. The Exotic Coconut is a discontinued scent and only out at the semi-annual sales and the pineapple is on its way out--it's 1/2 price right now, but I love them. I don't understand my sudden fascination with coconut smells, especially since I hate coconut in anything, but I love them. Figures I'd start liking something as it's being discontinued. Run right out now and buy as much as you can of all 3 if you can. You won't regret it. They are great scents for the summer.
I heard on the news this morning that Ed McMahon's house is being foreclosed. He's had his house on the market for 2 years, lots of people looking at it, but can't sell it. Granted, I'm sure his house is in a way different market than mine was, but it makes me all the more thankful that we sold mine so quickly. We could've been in so much trouble in this market. Just gotta express my gratitude.
I'm off work today so my goal is to finish going through all of the stuff for the yard sale. It looks like the weather is going to be okay for tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed. I am hoping to make at least $300. It may sound a little ambitious, but we have a lot of stuff. If we have a good turnout, we should make it easily. I'll let you know how it turns out.
I gotta say that I'm disappointed that no one commented on my post from yesterday. I was really hoping that I wasn't the only freak out there, but you all left me hangin'! I will embrace my freakyness and see it as an asset. I will repeat this mantra 10 times a day until I believe it.

The new phonebooks are here, the new phonebooks are here!
Yes, today is the day the new phonebooks arrived. Am I the only one who looks for my name immediately upon receiving the new books? I like to see where my name has been positioned on the page. I have a preemo spot this year--top of the page. Yes, can you believe that I'm actually at the top of one of the columns? It's a shame I no longer have that number and that's no longer my address and that's also no longer my name, but still, top of the page--gotta love it!
I also like looking for people's names from my past. Not to call them or even to visit them, but just to see if they still exist and if they're still in the area. The few I looked up must've moved on because they're not in there anymore or maybe they're like Mr and me--unlisted. Anyway, nothing like a little trip into memoryland.
It stormed to beat the band here last night. We had tornado warnings/watches, thunderstorm warnings/watches and flood warnings/watches. Me, Mr and Miss Daisy headed to the basement--wedding pictures in tow, of course. I always have to have all of my photos with me whenever I head to the basement. Whenever I see pictures and interviews of tornado, flood or fire victims, the one thing I feel the worst about is that they've lost their pictures. You can replace everything else, but not the pictures of your life so I am always sure to pack all of my photo albums--and I have A LOT--down to the basement with me whenever possible tragedy might strike. Thankfully for us last night, all of my photo albums are still in boxes down in the basement so there was a lot less to lug down there.
While we're (I'm) talking about things that I do, do you look under people's bathroom sinks or medicine cabinets when you use the bathroom at someone else's house? A few years ago this question came up in a survey that I read and I did my own informal survey of my friends and family. Turns out I was one of the only ones who looked under people's sinks. I don't look in medicine cabinets, but I'm fascinated with bathroom cabinets--what do they have, are they organized, do they have any products I'd like to use so I can ask them how they like it? Since I admitted this to many people at that time, I've had rein in my inquisitve nature because no one wanted me to use the bathroom at their house once I divulged my tendency. I'm happy to report that I can't remember the last time I looked under someone's sink, unless it was to find another roll of toilet paper, or room spray, or to see what they have...no, seriously, no looking for quite a while. I miss it, though. You get to know your friends in a whole new way that not everyone is open about at a cookout, ya know?
When this topic came up, I heard a story about someone who put marbles in their medicine cabinet so any looky-lou's would get quite a surprise when they opened the cabinet. I gotta say, this kinda scared me straight, too. I mean, after all, my noseyness might be exposed for everyone to know about and how terrible would that be?

I'm official!
I'm offically Mrs. MF. Now my blog address matches my new identity. I just went and got my new driver's license. The few times that I've written my new name, I have to think about what I'm writing so I make sure and write the correct name. I wonder how long it will take of me writing that until I become used to it?
It's raining again
This is the second day in a row that we're going to have to deal with rain here. Yesterday we had some really bad storms go through and I didn't even know about it. Apparently yesterday afternoon there were tornado warnings all around this area. I was at work and we had no idea what was going on outside, except that it was storming. Turns out nothing happened. It was rumored that a tornado was on the ground south of here, but we never heard that confirmed on the news. Right now, it's getting ready to storm again. Miss Daisy hates storms. She followed me around all morning yesterday and is doing the same today. Her whole little body just shakes when there's thunder. It's pitiful to watch and there's no way to console her.
I hope you all are checking out the Pioneer Woman's site. It is so much fun to read and she does giveaways all the time. Right now she's giving away a Zune. Sounds like it's just like an iPod and apparently she loves it. The link to her site is to the right under "Blogs and Websites I'm addicted to".
Can you believe that Mr and I fell asleep on the couch last night after we ate dinner at about 7 and I slept until midnight when Mr woke me up to go to bed? Then I slept through until 6:45 this morning. He woke me up at 6 when he left for work, but I fell back asleep. Apparently I was really tired. Married life is alive and thriving here! Obviously I got nothing done for the yard sale last night. I hope to get off work at 3 today so maybe I'll get something done today.
I ordered the invitations for J's baby shower yesterday. I can't wait to get them. I hope they're as cute in person as they were online. Yesterday it was 2 months until the shower. The summer is really flying by, although probably not fast enough for her since she's the one who's pregnant.
I forgot to tell you that we still haven't gotten the video of the wedding. I finally found out yesterday that he apparently sent it to the wrong address--not my old address and obviously not this address, but some address in Ft. Mitchell. I have no idea who he sent it to, but it wasn't us. He's supposed to send out another copy yesterday or today so hopefully we'll have it by the end of the week. I'll give you a review as soon as we get it.

Digging out
We've been working hard to get the house organized and ready for the yard sale. We found out via a sign at the top of the subdivision that there's going to be a community yard sale on Saturday so we are working hard to go through stuff, get stuff priced and ready for that. It will be nice to not have to advertise on our own and get all that traffic coming through. We got the downstairs in pretty good shape last night--still not completely done but a whole lot better than the picture I showed you the other day. I figure we'll probably have to have another sale later in the year since we probably won't get through everything this week.

Then it starts getting crazy.

Even though I'll never wear my dress again and there's no one to pass it onto, I can't imagine doing this to my dress. I saw a video today of a girl and guy who went to the Taste of Cincinnati and part of what they did was spray mustard and ketchup all over each other. Can't do it, ain't gonna happen. Our photog is talking about this place in Cincinnati where we can go in the woods and there's also a waterfall. That's why she wants to wait until July when it's warm. I would definitely walk through the water, but getting soaked to the bone...we'll have to see.
In other news, I went to the Social Security office yesterday to officially get my name changed to Mrs. MF. If I have time today before I have to work, I'm going to get my new license which is really the last step in being official. Once I have that, we can get a lot of other things changed over. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be at the SS office--only took me about 40 minutes.
We started our semi-annual sale at work yesterday. I'm really disappointed by the offerings. It's not nearly as good as the December sale and they still didn't bring back the foam burst that I love. It's still a good time to stock up on shower gels, though. They're only $3 for the first 3 days of the sale. That's a savings of $6.50 per bottle. You can't beat that.
For those of you who didn't know, I'm doing a TTD photo session in July--TTD stands for "Trash the Dress". Since this was our 2nd photographer, we didn't do an engagement session with her and instead I suggested we do a TTD session. Trash the dress can take all forms. What it means to me is just getting some cool pictures of me in my wedding dress in places that we couldn't go to the day of the wedding--the woods, walking in city streets, etc. She wants us to do the water thing but I'm not so sure about that. We'll have to see how it feels that day. Mr will wear some dress pants and probably just a dress shirt. Anyway, I've been looking at some pictures of some other girls' sessions. I lifted these from the Look Photography blog. The first few are cool and what I'm talking about as far as getting pictures in a unique setting.

Then it starts getting crazy.

It was a happy/sad day
Did you ever see that Carol Burnett episode where she had a half white, half black outfit on? She said it was a happy/sad day. She'd been to a wedding and to a funeral on the same day. Her entire outfit, including shoes, was half white and half black. It was funny. But feeling happy/sad isn't so funny. That's exactly how I felt all day Friday.

I was so relieved and glad to be out from under that mortgage, esp. in this day and age with the real estate market in the toilet. We are SO fortunate to have sold it in a relatively short period of time--a little over 2 months. But I was sad because of everything I wrote in Friday's entry, but also because it really hit me that day that this was the official end of Ms. M--that's me before I got married. That was the final, big thing that I had done as a single woman. I went to the house by myself to get the last few things we'd left and just walked around, took pictures, videotaped the house and cried. Yes, there were many tears for me Friday and they took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting to feel that way. Maybe it was naive of me, but I knew it would be sad to sell the house, but I didn't think it would be that sad, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, I thought I'd share some of the last photos of the house with you as well as the videos.

Here's the very purple living room--my first paint job. I was so excited to try that new painting procedure. I did love it when I first did it and for a long time after that. I would've liked to have changed it a couple of years ago, but this room is too daggone big to paint again. The new owner, a single guy, is painting over it probably as we speak. He said people would probably question his sexuality if he kept a purple living room. That's probably true.
